For the past 31 years, the Centre Athénas work for the safeguarding of the biodiversity that supports wild animals in difficulty (birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians) for release into the wild.
The major objectives of the association are :
- Limit the impact of our lifestyle on the wildlife in caring for the wild animals of the european rugged and releasing them into the natural environment.
- Raising public awareness to the preservation of biodiversity.
- Fight against the trafficking of animals in europe.
Because of its geographical location, located in the heart of the Jura mountains, the Center Athénas quickly specialized in the protection of cats from France that are the cat forest and the boreal lynx. It is today the only structure authorized in France to the capture, detention, and release of boreal lynx. He has cared for 52 lynx in 31 years of existence.
