Our missions

Green Cross is an NGO created in 1993 by Mikhail Gorbachev following the 1992 Rio summit, focused on the support of the ecological transition effective territories and the links between peace, environment and climate.

In this context, Green Cross has contributed to the debate and to implement initiatives and demonstrators concrete, on the ground. This work shows in real-life conditions by improving our access to water and the ocean, our food, our use of energy services, via co-operation, the circular economy and the transition to cities and regions more sustainable, we preserve the peace.

Thus, our ambition is to provide keys to act, and this concrete, embodied, on the scale of territories.

Our fields of action

Our fields of action are many. Here are some examples :

- Encourage a greater consideration of the thematic of water, whether it's access to water, sanitation, conflict prevention, or remediation,
- Anticipate the environmental crises of tomorrow,
- Stimulate the development of clean technologies, creating value locally, for access to water and energy,
- Develop decentralised cooperation around concrete projects (including the project Smart Water for Green Schools),
- Support people suffering the consequences of environmental disasters through programmes of social medicine, and inform transparently about the consequences

Our levers of action

Green Cross supports all of its actions on the co-construction, through 4 working groups :

- Water, coastal, and Ocean
- Energies, sustainable Cities and Territories
- Food, agriculture and fisheries
- Cop 23 Cop 24

This allows us, in each of our spheres of activity (water, coastline, and ocean, power, energy transition and sustainable cities, health and the environment, solidarity), to put in place the programs and advocacy of the most appropriate, and share.
