The Ligue Royale Belge pour la Protection des Oiseaux (LRBPO) has been working since 1922 to the study and protection of birds and in general nature.
The League does not receive subsidy from functioning. It is, therefore, independent of the ministries, which allows him to be critical. It is also recognized for his activism. For example, we are at the origin of the prohibition of the tenderie in Belgium. We are also the initiators of the centres of rehabilitation for wildlife.

Help wildlife in distress
The LRBPO supports a series of centres revalidation and operates the only centre in the Brussels Region, home to over 2500 animals per year. The rescued animals are varied, mostly of birds but also of mammals and reptiles.
Pets, lost, or abandoned are also accepted and placed for adoption.

To preserve nature and raise awareness of the beauty of our environment and its protection
Our environment is in danger, it must be protected. The LRBPO has twenty natural reserves where a remarkable biodiversity can be met. Meadows Rosiere, one of our first nature reserve was founded in 1987 and continues to expand to reach this day eighty hectares.
The LRBPO offers many school activities. The children learn about the world of nature through games and activities. The green classes are organised at Jalna, our visitor centre and accommodation located in one of our nature reserves, and accommodates up to 60 people.

Lobby for improved legislation
On the ground, such as in the departments, and from that political world, the LRBPO is very active as regards the improvement of legislation in nature protection, improvement of the territory and the well-being of the animal.
The League's fight against the excesses of hunting. It fight against poaching, at home and abroad, indeed, the birds know no borders !
She fights against the keeping of wild animals by individuals.
