The goal is to try to protect the badger, an animal unjustly persecuted and unloved. Many conferences in France and Europe are presented as such to educate the children but also the general public about this animal but also on biodiversity. Studies with scientific protocols are carried out in order to protect the habitat of the badger.
MELES is also a care center for wild mammals injured or orphaned to rehabilitate them in the nature. Beyond that, hedgehogs, weasels, deer ...., more than 25 blaireautins orphans have been rescued and released back into the wild. Some are still followed in the forest of Compiègne and of the new generations have seen the light of day.
The association MELES has no subsidy in order to remain free and independent in its actions. Only donations, memberships or sponsorships, and interventions (conferences, outings...) allow MELES to save a maximum of wild mammals.
