Every minute 18 tons of plastic waste are dumped into the ocean. Only 1% of these materials float, the 99% remaining to sink or break down into particles and then ingested by species such as plankton to end up in the food chain. The consequences are terrible for both the environment and humans. To effectively combat this scourge, it is necessary to act at the source : earth.

For this, the Plastic Odyssey will achieve a world first : an expedition around the world aboard a ship ambassador of recycling, which will go forward only through to plastic waste. It will start in 2020 for 3 years along the coasts of Africa, Latin America and Asia-Pacific, the areas most affected by this pollution.

The ship will be a workshop, floating the recovery of waste plastics, with the edge of the machines, low-tech and open-source. At each stop, of the collections will be organized, and training in the sorting and recycling will be proposed to convert the waste into useful objects. What is not recyclable will be turned into fuel by pyrolysis to advance to the next step. All the technologies will be disseminated throughout the world to develop the local economy, while clearing our environment.
