Thoth is an association law 1901. The team of Thot is formed from its engagement on the ground with refugees and asylum seekers, it responds to a need for learning French back ever but also a major issue in France : How to ensure that they have an independent future here ?
Our name is THOT, Transmit a HOrizon at All.
Thoth was the egyptian god who embodied the concept of Knowledge. Its mission is to disseminate its knowledge among men, he invented language. This symbol is the image of the mission that we are entrusted : to transmit by the language and the ability of individuals to flourish here, in France.
Our goals:
1. A school for the exiled(s)non-graduate(e)s
A majority of asylum-seekers in Paris have not completed their high school, and many of them have never been enrolled in school. Their emergency : learn French in the best conditions, with a specific pedagogy, and a diploma validating the acquis, in order to quickly regain autonomy, dignity and rebuild their social and economic existence.
2. A device that responds to the emergency social
The associations offering courses in French are crushed by the weight of the requests and, to this day, there are few offers of FLE intensive, free of charge, provided by teachers who have graduated in FLE paid and specifically designed for an adult audience, not or little schooling in his country of origin.
At the end of training, students pass the exam the DILF, DELF A1 or A2 diploma State recognized internationally and valid for life.
3. A school designed specifically for the exiled(e)s
With an awareness of trauma and the urgency of rebuilding a social and economic existence in our students, we have a deputy stand over a pole listening psychotherapeutic (exchange groups and individual support for students who request it), social (permanently 7h/week) and legal, as well as a centre of vocational orientation in the form of bimonthly workshops and individual consultations. In addition, in order to allow an approach to language that happens, we add to this system of artistic workshops and cultural outings, and user-friendly.
4. Pedagogy, and a framework adapted
The educational program consists of levels from literacy to level DELF A2. It was built by the educational leadership to better meet the requirements of the certifications DILF and DELF which we present to our students but also to respond to their real needs, interaction in daily life. Our program focuses on both the pragmatic goals, linguistic and socio-cultural to which we wish to bring our students in 16 weeks. Our professors offer course original, playful, and innovative in connection with the educational program.
The time of training is short and intensive : a semester lasts for 16 weeks including 160 hours of French language, 16 hours of workshops, job + 2 hours of individual interview, psychological treatment optional, 1 week of artistic workshops and a permanent social and legal. This time allows our students to acquire as quickly as possible a level of autonomy in the French value added by a degree. Some of our students have never held a pencil in their lives in and out of sessions Thoth knows how to read, write and speak in French.
A comprehensive scheme to integrate the language, use it and appropriate it. All in order to allow migrants to find their anchoring in the social and economic life of france. Our training is based on the real needs of the people and the professionalism of the stakeholders in each pole around the base of learning to make it optimal.
